All Westborough girls and boys entering grades 4-8 are eligible to tryout.  While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that players attend both tryouts.  The tryout and team selection process is outlined in our WYBA League Bylaws.

For those new to the program, Travel Basketball is a separate program from Westborough Rec Basketball, and we encourage players to play both.  Travel basketball affords players the opportunity to participate in a more competitive environment. Westborough teams are part of the Metrowest Basketball League along with hundreds of other teams from nearby towns.  Metrowest teams are usually within a 1 hour drive from Westborough and the league offers 5-6 divisions that allow WYBA to place each of our teams in a division with appropriate competition.

Practices start in early November, games start the first week of December, and are usually on Sundays (varying times) until early March.  There are games on Super Bowl Sunday and both weekends of February vacation.  The season concludes with playoffs in early March when a boys and girls champion for each division is crowned.

WYBA is a non-profit (501c3) organization and all fees are used to provide a competitive basketball experience for our players. The cost of the program – which covers gym fees, referees, uniforms, equipment, insurance & tournaments – has historically ranged from $350 to $500 per player.  Included in this year’s fee will be new uniforms for all players in 4th-7th grades, Upon team selection, Grade 8 coaches will make a decision with their teams if they choose to purchase new uniforms.

There is a fee of $25 to participate in the tryout sessions. The deadline to sign up is Sept 23 to reserve your spot.
